Monsters are divided into several categories: Living, Undead, Extra-Mortal Entities, and Unknown.

Living[]

"Living" monsters are monsters that are explicitly alive and/or organic.

Undead[]

"Undead" monsters are monsters that have either come back to life after dying (such as vampires and zombies), or exist specifically through death (such as ghosts and skeletons).

  • Banshee
  • Franken Monster
  • Ghost
  • Lich
  • Mummy[1]
    • Abdu
    • Agnes-Hotep
    • Rich mummies
      • Brad Braddington
      • Chad Chaddington
      • Tad Taddington
    • Unknown Mummy football player[27]
    • Unknown Mummy panda furry
  • Skeleton[10]
    • Unknown Skeleton student[28]
  • Vampire/Nosferatus*
  • Zombie

Amortal Entities[]

Amortal monsters are monsters that are neither dead nor alive, and/or are not or do not adhere to the typical criteria of being organic. Or, they are the embodiment or agent of a mortal concept.

Hybrid[]

Although uncommonly depicted, monsters that are hybrids of two or more monster species do exist.

  • Unknown Hermit-Crab/Dragon hybrid
  • Unknown Werewolf/Demon hybrid football player[27]

Unknown[]

Monsters classified as "Unknown" are monsters whose exact species, or what monster "type" they fall under, is unknown.

  • Mishra Family
    • While Salil and Aaravi Mishra's maternal side of the family is human, her father is a monster of an unknown type, and she possesses inhuman traits such as green sclera and purple hair. However, their monster traits were based on the Rakshasa (specifically its iteration in the comic series These Savage Shores) and Illidan Stormrage (a night elf in World of Warcraft). The developers have not decided what their monster type would be classified as in-universe.
  • Banshee
  • Batniss[33]
    • It is unknown if she is a bat-person, or a were-bat.
  • Unknown Bird-Person
    • In a lunch event with Scott and Polly, the Player is said to have thrown a jelly dessert at a "bird-person" they hate. What kind of bird-person they are is unknown.
  • Miss Demonslayer
    • While it is unlikely Miss Demonslayer is a Slayer, it may also be unlikely she is a demon either.
  • Elvira
    • Although Elvira is said to be undead, and may likely be a zombie, it is unsaid what type of undead monster she is.
  • Counsellor Flodge[34]
    • It is unknown if they are a lizard-person or a were-chameleon.
  • "Fluffy"
    • In an event with Damien and Vera, they kept someone they nicknamed "Fluffy" in a locker for their parents to pay a heft ransom. What type of monster they are, or if they are a monster at all, was unsaid.
  • Mr. Giant Stone Head
  • Headless People[35]
  • Herald of the Longest Night[36]
  • High Puppeteer[18]
  • King of the Hill[18]
  • Johnny Karate[26]
  • Lord of the Flies
    • An alternate name for Beelzebub, he is mentioned at the end of the ANGEL BLOOD route and that a magic item known as the "Skytower Emerald" would be useful in a fight against him. As angel blood is not mentioned, it is unknown if he is a devil (as angel blood is vital in defeating them), a normal demon, or another type of monster altogether.
  • Momo[3]
    • A character encountered in the Haunted Manor of the Monster Camp demo, based on the viral character. Her monster type is unknown. She is classified as a "modern monster" as opposed to the "classic monsters" of Monster Prom.
  • Moss Mann
    • A character encountered in the Haunted Manor of the Monster Camp demo, identified as a Mothperson. Although Mothpeople as a monster type are well known, it is unknown if they fall under the Sentient Insect species or are a species all their own. They are classified as a "modern monster" as opposed to the "classic monsters" of Monster Prom.
  • The Narrator
    • Being a character based on the fact that Monster Prom is a video game and the concept of breaking the 4th Wall, but who simultaneously exists within the game's canon and directly interacts with its world and characters, it is unknown what type of "monster", if he can be classified as such, he is. It may very well be that due to his very meta-/inter-textual nature he is a singular entity rather than a "member" of a "species".
  • Queen Nehelenia[37]
    • An evil queen rumored to be one of the Coven's upcoming Big Bads.
  • Nightmare Puppy[18][17]
  • Nosferatus
    • In one event, Scott and Vera may create a film starring a "nosferatu", and mention "nosferatus" specifically. The hiring of a vampire actor to play said character confirms they are a subset of vampires, but what exactly differentiates them from vampires in general is unknown.
  • Ms. Panthera
    • Although it can be reasonably assumed Ms. Panthera is a were-panther, her being able to transform into a full panther at will (or when overcome with hunger/bloodlust) calls this into question.
  • Pizza Delivery Girl.[38]
  • Samuel Charles Peterson/SCPs[3]
    • A parody of the SCPs of the SCP Universe encountered in the Haunted Manor in the Monster Camp demo. The only one encountered in the game is Samuel Charles Peterson the 173rd, based on SCP-173, a living statue. However, dialogue from Billy implies that other members of his family are other entities altogether, such as a toaster and room of chairs. Due to their source of inspiration and canon ambiguity, it is unknown if all members of the Peterson family are the same type of monster that can have vastly different forms, or if they are all individually different monsters. They are classified as a "modern monster" as opposed to the "classic monsters" of Monster Prom.
  • Sea Monster Unholy Terror McKrakenface-O'Cthulhu
    • Miranda's great aunt is, as her name suggests, some kind of sea monster. Even disregarding the "O'Cthulhu" part of her name, however, it is unspecified whether she is specifically a sea monster, or a merperson sea monster, as she's part of Miranda's merpeople family.
  • Sirens
    • Sirens are encountered at the Lake in the Monster Camp demo. While they are encountered at the Lake, they are not physically described, and although commonly depicted as merpeople, they were originally human-headed birds in mythology.
  • Unknown Skeletal Monster
    • The skull-headed monster Damien is seen styling in the HAIR ending. Due to the presence of what appears to be green magical energy that may be holding this monster's body together, they may be a lich, but they are not identified.[39]
  • Mr. Slenderman
    • Although Slender"people" as a monster type are well known, it is unknown whether they are classified as "Living" or "Extra-Mortal" in canon. It is also unknown, but very likely, that he is classified as a "modern monster" as opposed to the "classic monsters" of Monster Prom.
  • The Unfaithful[40]
  • Various Furry Monsters
    • The furries that live in the woods around Spooky High who make Scott their king in the FURRY ending. Only one was identified, a mummy dressed as a panda. Their members include a brown bear, a pink rabbit, a green squirrel, and a blue canine or feline.[41]
  • Miss Weaving[42]
    • A humanoid with spider characteristics. It is unclear what type of monster she is.

Trivia[]

  • Different types of therianthropes seem to display varying levels of their animal characteristics when not transformed, assuming all of them transform at all.
    • Werewolves like Scott and the Wolfpack have pointed ears and tails while in human form, as do were-bears like Crazy Martin[24], but were-tiger Coach and were-pelican Cool Josh[25] look like anthropomorphic versions of their animals at all times.
  • As shown with Dmitri and Liam, vampires possess vastly different skin tones and hair colors. What causes such differences is unknown.
  • As magic is taught to and can be learned by any species, it is unknown what classifies magical humans like the witches of the Coven as "monster enough" to attend Spooky High.
  • Culturally old and common monsters, such as ghosts, vampires, werewolves, etc. are identified as "classic monsters". Alternatively, monsters based on Creepypastas, cryptids, and viral internet memes are identified as "modern monsters".[3]
  • In the CRIME ending, Vera says she can "speak Clown". This confirms Clowns exists as its own monster type (although what differentiates Clowns from humans dressed as clowns is unknown), and that they have their own language.
